Acupuncture

This medical art is based on the flow of “qi” or energy throughout the body. The energy flows along regular patterns called meridians. Any obstruction in these meridians due to trauma, diet, stress and/or other factors results in an impedance in the flow of qi, and thus illness. By placing needles in specific points along these meridians based upon each individual’s symptoms, the qi can be stimulated to flow in a harmonious pattern again, and health is restored. Acupuncture can be used to treat both chronic and acute problems. It can be used to treat, but not limited to pain, fatigue, digestive disturbances, and anxiety, as well as to stimulate overall health.
Homeopathic Medicine

Homeopathy emphasizes treatment of the whole person through the prescription of specifically chosen remedies based upon each individual case. It functions to help stimulate the bodies’ own ability to heal. Homeopathy is a highly effective treatment for acute and chronic conditions ranging from allergies and migraines to depression and attentional problems. It is extremely safe and can therefore be used with all age groups including infants. In addition to being a very effective and safe treatment modality, it is also inexpensive.
Botanical Medicine

Botanical medicine involves the use of plants/herb in their various forms as medicine to help the body heal. The use of plants as medicine dates back to the beginning of civilization before the advent of drugs. Many of the drugs today are still derived from plants. Botanicals, when used under the care and direction of a trained professional are gentle, safe and effective ways of treating many physical and emotional imbalances. They can be taken internally in the form of pills, tinctures, teas and food. They can also be applied to the body externally in the form of salves, ointments and poultices among others.
Physical Manipulation

Naturopathic physical medicine includes spinal manipulation, massage & other soft tissue techniques, electric muscle stimulation, ultrasound, stretching/exercise therapies, and hydrotherapeutic applications of heat and cold. These therapies can be used to help restore the body to balance and stimulate healing after trauma or injury.
IV Nutritional Therapy

Intravenous (IV) nutrition is a method of feeding vitamins, minerals, and other natural substances directly into a patient's bloodstream. Bypassing the digestive system is the main advantage of IV nutrition. When substances are given orally they must be processed through the stomach and the intestines. Many substances may be rendered inactive in the digestive tract, or may not be well absorbed due to poor intestinal function. By directly administering nutrients to the body higher than normal blood levels can be achieved. These increased levels can provide an immediate therapeutic response by correcting deficiencies that may arise from a disease state.
Nutritional Counseling

To support you in lifestyle changes, Dr. Spat will assess and recommend according to an individuals personal needs. Through the use of several diagnostics Dr. Spat will determine various nutrient supplementation to aid in digestion, assimilation and metabolism; other herbal therapies and exercise programs to help you restore and attain optimum body functioning and performance.
Chelation Therapy

The concept of chelation is based on the observation that when a certain amino acid complex called EDTA (ethylene-diamine-tetra-acetic acid) comes in contact with certain positively charged metals and other substances such as lead, iron, copper, calcium, magnesium, zinc, plutonium and manganese, it grabs them (hence the chele or claw), and removes them. Chelation therapy is the process of removing from the body the undesirable ionic material by the infusion, or taking orally, of an organic compound which has suitable chelating properties.
Bio-puncture
Biopuncture is a new therapy consisting of injecting biological products (herbs and homeopathic products) into specific areas. The name Biopuncture originated from combining the word biotherapeutics [ bio- ] with acupuncture [ -puncture ]. These techniques allow for slow assimilation of the natural medicinal products into the bodies cellular matrix. This powerful treatment is similar to and based on the principles practiced in mesotherapy in Europe. Until recently this amazing treatment was unavailable in the U.S. Biopuncture & Mesotherapy stimulates your body’s own healing mechanisms speeding up the process of injury recovery and in the case of anti-aging, natural rejuvenation/repair.
Prolotherapy
Prolotherapy ("Proliferative Injection Therapy") involves injecting an otherwise non-pharmacological and non-active irritant solution into the body, generally in the region of tendons or ligaments for the purpose of strengthening weakened connective tissue and alleviating musculoskeletal pain. Prolotherapy is a simple, natural technique that stimulates the body to repair the painful area when the natural healing process needs a little assistance.
Other Therapies Offered at the Medical Center
Botox

Botox therapy is the injection of an extremely diluted, purified form of botulinum toxin type A (made from the bacteria that causes botulism food poisoning) into specific muscles. This causes a localized and temporary paralysis of those muscles and prevents them from contracting. Botox was initially used in rehabilitation medicine for treating severe muscle imbalances in people physically impaired by strabismus (crossed eyes), stroke, brain injury, and cerebral palsy.
Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to treat varicose veins and “spider veins.” Sclerotherapy involves an injection of a solution (generally sodium chloride) directly into the vein. The solution irritates the lining of the vessel, causing it to swell and stick together, and the blood to clot. Over time, the vessel turns into scar tissue that fades from view. Sclerotherapy is a well-proven procedure and has been in use since the 1930s.
